The stronger power supply is especially needed for objects with bigger surfaces and when using electrolytes that need a high current density, like e.g. the copper electrolyte. (5 A pro dm²). The Tifoo zinc electrolyte for example needs a current density of about 2 A / dm² for immersion plating. That means that with a 3 A power supply, you can e.g. galvanize a surface of 1.5 dm² = 100 cm², i.e. for example a metal sheet of 15 x 10 cm. For all bigger parts, it is advisable to work with a 10 A power supply. The electrolytes vary here: for a gold electrolyte bath, 0.3 A pro dm² are enough, whereas chrome needs a current density of 15 A per dm². An overview of each needed current density can be found either in the instruction manuals of the electrolyte in question, or in Tifoo Current density table. The elegant solution for DIY plating via pen plating - the Tifoo manual plating pen. The galvanic plating of metal objects is one of the most frequent methods for creating precious metal surfaces. In order to plate by yourself in a selective way on certain spots, the so-called swab plating has proven itself. The manual galvanic pen from Tifoo allows you to create precious metal layers in a well-directed and efficient way. The pen comes with a high quality graphite anode that serves as well as replacable top for the absorbent swab. Precision work (but no filigree plating of jewellery) as well as large surfaces can be plated with this pen.
In order to chrome- and nickel-plate, it is advisable to purchase a nickel rod electrode

Copper anodes are ideal for copper electrolyte, as they reduce the consumption and improve the electrolyte's deposition. We recommend to use the copper anode in combination with the Tifoo Bright copper electrolyte.
